I'd never heard of Winchell's until you mentioned it. Went to Google to try to find a location near me, and this link came up, lol Los Angeles Mental Relaxorium: Krispy Kreme Vs. Winchells

Oh, and I didn't find a location near me (Miracle Mile) but maybe I missed it.

And now I want donuts...

Hate to rub it in, but Torrance has 2 Winchell's. I don't get donuts from Winchell's though, the mom & pop ones are much tastier. I like the taste of Krispy Kremes but they are too rich for my digestive tract. Donuts are a rare treat at our house, about twice a year I will surprise the family with a dozen on a Sunday. They are a must when I have a yard sale - I don't know why, but I can't even imagine having a yard sale at my house and not getting some donuts and coffee to start the day off.

Winchell's. A taste of my childhood.

An excellent substitute: DK's.

Choc-choc with sprinkle and medium half-half in freeway cup.

(I speak Cambodian.)

True, this why it was such a shock. California is known for healthy eating

I remember back in the 80's when croissants were a hot fad, most of the shops were owned by Korean immigrants.
I figured this was a South Bay thing now because I last time I was in L.A. I was in the West Hollywood area and there were none.

I'd like to hear it.

Also, I'm going over to El Segundo on Sunday. Will there be a Winchell's nearby? I'm not familiar with that area, and again Google is not helping. I throw myself on the mercy of the L.A. forum as I've only three weeks left here and must have a Winchell's donut before I go.

Ask a cop. In my day, a Winchells employee would get in trouble for charging us for coffee and a couple of donuts.

Or use their locator: http://www.winchells.com/

I find it interesting that they have Winchells in Oklahoma and Kansas but none in CA above Salinas.
