Default Hotel Positions in Los Angeles

I am currently a senior in college, and will be graduating with my bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Management soon. I was born and raised in the city of Pittsburgh, Pa and i currently work at a Hilton property downtown Pittsburgh. Is anyone familiar with the hospitality field in Los Angeles ? Is there a huge tourist area where there are a lot of hotels & restaurants. I'm looking for management positions with a hilton or Marriott property in the heart of the city and i will also like to rent a apartment around 1k$ month i suppose; any ideas? or should i look to re-locate somewhere else honestly how is Los Angeles economy.

I have to get out of Pittsburgh this town sucks; its always cold. & there is no diversity at all!

LAX, Westwood, Beverly Hills and Universal City all have hotels where you could seek employment. Near LAX is the West Los Angeles Community College which has a travel and tourism program. I believe Marc Mancini heads that program. Why don't you ask all of your instructors if they know anyone at this college as I'm sure they have "connections" being located in this area. Good Luck!

The hospitality and tourism sector is one of the few brightspots in the LA economy right now. The new convention center hotel in downtown LA (a JW Marriot and Ritz Carlton under one roof) has also increased the convention business here.

I happen to be retired from Hilton Corp. It is a great company, if I were you I would start by talking with the Beverly Hills headquarters or your present boss to see the chances of getting transferred or getting hired at one of the many Hiltons in the area. I would also look at living a little bit outside of L. A, maybe San Fernando Valley. there are Hiltons all over the area, the one near Universal stuidos is nice.
