Gee, thanks for 'breaking it down for me.' Thought you'd bring alittle more to the table other than condescension. Oh well.

I pay $1600/month mortgage, with insurance lumped in. Yep, bought a house and everything and I wasn't making anything close to $100,000/year (nor am I now). That's the extent of the breakdown. I have no idea where you are living, but to say that nearly $3000/month is in some way normal for this area? Not in my reality.

I think you may be confusing 'apologist' for 'realist'. Big city equals LOTS of different realities. There are probably $10,000/month condos out there for all I know. Not my reality, but the norm? I'm not buying it.

So I'm pretty comfortable with my grasp of economics, not to mention the ability to spot the ridiculous.

The liberals have killed the state, really, and L.A. is in the state. That's the worst thing about L.A. actually is that it's in the state of California. Besides that, it's pretty great!

And every condo costs $2,800 a month at least. I had my mortgage redone too. You must have no understanding of economics whatsoever. The smallest condos in my building RENT for $2,100 per month, and that's obviously cheaper than they cost to own. It's very simple stuff, so I'll break it down so you can understand it -- $1,750 mortgage, $450 property taxes, and $650 HOA dues. Not one of those things is hard to understand. That's what a mortgage runs on $310,000, that's what property taxes costs on that, and that's what HOA dues are anywhere (that covers my electricity as well, thank god, water, sewer, garbage, front desk, pool maintenance, common areas, etc.).
