I work in Woodland Hills. There are lots of condos and apartments being built right now; also, the Topanga Mall just reopened after being remodeled. There is talk about Westfield using the area between The Promenade and The Topanga Mall as a "mixed use" of shops, apartments, parks, etc. I'd live there even though it's the hottest spot in L.A. County in the summer, and the coldest in the winter. Also, there are free concerts every summer at the Warner Center Park.
It's being built up now, and I'm not so sure the Ventura Freeway can handle the increase in congestion (it's already bad now!), but the Orange Line helps a little (that's the busway that goes from Woodland Hills to the Red Line subway in North Hollywood).

Probably in the top 5% livable places in the SFV. Not cheap. Hot. Taft High School is good. Woodland Hills Elementary is very good. Good demographics. Since in West SFV, tough commute over the hill to LA. Great commute to Conejo Valley & Oxnard Plane jobs though. Private girls catholic high school Louisville (I went to a co-ed kindergarten there).
Used to be called Girard.
Girard (Woodland Hills) 1924 looking north down Topanga. Ventura Boulevard (Highway 101) in middle of photo.

Woodland Hills is nice. Some of the houses on the hills around Pierce College are nice. Kim Basinger lives there, I am told. She is hot. Sorry, that's probably not what you wanted to know.

I lived in Woodland Hills for over two years. I absolutely loved it. A few things to note:
-It is hot!!! (I like the heat, so it was perfect for me. Mortals beware)
-It is more expensive. "Dis ain't Van Nuys, yo!" More expensive than some other parts of the Valley, less expensive than west LA
-It is NICE!!! The streets are clean, and there's tons of great shopping and restaurants. Everything from the newish 'Roy's' to the Ventura Blvd. scene. BJ's, Pickwicks, Ruth Chris, two shopping malls, proximity to West Hills medical center, etc. All very good.
-It's far (from the west side). But, outside of that access to the 101 is right there, and the same with access to Topanga Cyn.
-Kim Basinger lives there, I am told. And she too is hot.

It is the hottest and coldest in the valley, but not in L.A. county. Palmdale (record low of 7 degrees above zero) and Lancaster (record low of -1 below) are much colder and they are both in L.A. county.
Anyway, Woodland Hills is a nice area. Expensive, but nice.

Hmm... maybe I'm thinking coldest/warmest temperatures in L.A. the city. That seems much more reasonable. That'll teach me to post before I've had my coffee!

Yeah but Chatsworth, Canoga park, Reseda, Van Nuys, North Hollywood, etc... use to be real nice also. SFV seems to be changing faster than LA.

Some of the northern parts of Chatsworth are still nice...
