Default Which city is equally far from Tustin and Pasadena?

I work in Tustin, my gf works in Pasadena. We'd like to move in together.

I know this commute would be a challenge if at all possible.

Which of the following cities are about equally far from both Tustin and Pasadena when considering commute times?

- Cerritos
- Whittier
- City of Industry
- Rowland Heights
- Brea
- Buena Park
- (Any other suggestions)?

Study the traffic patterns along potential freeways - this is critical.

Sigalert.com Los Angeles Traffic Map

It might be OK to live in San Dimas or somewhere near the 57/210 (??????)....but you'd have to check those freeways at your commute times. It might not be the shortest sum total miles commutes but there are nice neighborhoods in that area.

Minimizing the commute time for both of us is of utmost importance.. as long as the area isn't very bad, we'd rather live in an ok neighborhood than increase our commute to live in a nice neighborhood. The most we can tolerate is around 1 hr each way on average (2 hours/day on average) for the commute.

Metrolink isn't an option, at least for me.. I start work at 6:30am sharp and the first train arrives in Tustin after 6:40..

Joining a carpool/vanpool is also something we'd like to consider to decrease driving costs and to be able to use the carpool lanes.

If anyone carpools from one of the above cities to work in either Pasadena or Tustin ...

i was going to say san dimas as well, or even glendora. however, both of your commutes to tustin/pasadena are going to be terrible. cerritos migh be a good option as well, that way you can avoid the 57 and possibly even the 210.

Cerritos, Whittier, or BP are you only real options. You want to avoid the 57, 60, 210 as much as possible, but the 91 isnt much fun either

Buena Park, Anaheim, Norwalk straight up or down the 5 to Pasadena and Tustin. Look at Mapquest.

I drove from Los Feliz to Anaheim for 2 years and although the morning drive wasn't too bad, the drive home was longer. I'd spend on average 2h:15min a day on the freeway. Fridays were the worst, rainy Fridays were the Devil's punishment for whatever bad I did (or didn't do) that day.

Going from North to South is a lot better than going from South to North, especially on the 5, especially during the time you listed. So keep that in mind.

La Mirada is also in the middle and very close to the freeway, but in the end both drives are going to suck.

If it were me I'd live as close to Pasadena as possible, and have you do the longer drive.

Where would you suggest? We've completely ruled out the following cities even though they might be roughly in the middle:

- Norwalk
- Pico Rivera
- Bell
- Bell Gardens
- Commerce
- Santa Fe Springs
- Downey

I wouldn't blame you, although those are my 'hometowns.'

Again, I'd parrot what other's have said: If you're intent on a geographical mid-point then Whittier, La Mirada and Cerritos are the nicer of those areas.

Another option - what about Long Beach/Belmont Shores area. You would have to fight the 22 but you leave early enough in the morning to avoid most of the tough traffic. Your girlfriend would fight the 710, but on any given day that's as good or better than the 57/210 combination. Or, on the other side of the hill, Redondo Beach puts your girlfriend on the 110 - which can be a real bummer - and you on the 405/22, but the evenings and weekends may be worth it.
