Daisy, I presume Janae meant $1200 rent for the apartment alone, rather than everything . If that's the whole budget then Janae is going to be 1000-2000 miles short of being able to live in Los Angeles.

Despite what this forum says you CAN find a safe apartment in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. You just have to know you won't get a modern place or anything with too many amenities and it might be in a suburb. It is definitely doable. There's plenty of safe places for rent in Pasadena for $1200.

dont worry about crime LA is safest its been sine 1960, and grocerys and gyms you can find in a block or two (life in LA is good) its always sunny 70 degrees and up, check out some pics of LA in this forum called "this is one big nice enjoyable chunk of pics of L.A." great pics trust me and then you decide if you want to come live in LA or stay cold in NYC.
