looking for apartment near lax airport
I'm moving from the east coast to LA in a month or so. Looking for a 2 bedroom apartment within about 30 minutes of LAX that is safe and under $1400/mo. Any suggestions on areas to look at and avoid, main things being safe and in that price range? Torrance and Hawthorne seem to come up as possibilities on apartment searches but I don't know anything about them, how are they?
Thanks

You couldn't find a 2 bed for that much in Compton...the worst part ever in LA. It's less than 30 minutes from the airport, but you'll never be able to use the airport because you'll probably be murdered first. Prepare for paying at least 1500+ for a one bed and around 2000+ for a two bed depending on the area. You could maybe get a studio for that in the best areas. If you can handle a one bed, try El Segundo, specifically along Imperial Ave. You can get a one bed for about 1250 a month.
Don't mean to ruin your hopes, but you probably will either be living in something smaller or in the ghetto with that size.
Oh yea. And don't even think about Hawthorne. Torrance doesn't seem far, and its not, but with traffic it can take forever to get to LAX. The South Bay (where Torrance is) has pretty bad traffic. It is a nice area though, but prepare for a lot of Asians.
