The yellow changed quickly, I went through the red, and there was a big flash in my eyes. This was in Pasadena CA. I've read that these ticket fines are outrageous... like $500 - $600. I've heard that some cities allow you to do community service in place of paying the fine. Has anyone done this? Does anyone know if Pasadena has this?

You can't even drive without the local and state governments robbing you. I haven't received one of these lately from a red light cam, but I'm currently fighting one from the CHP. Google "ticket assassin".

Cool. Thanks for helping to contribute lowering the local governments' deficits. The more you pay in fines, the less others have to pay in taxes. Heck, this might even be a deterrent to get people to slow down and drive safely.

Sorry I can't answer whether or not you can do community service, but I did come across this site on the cameras. Don't know how accurate the info on it is, but it might be helpful in the future.

One of the favorite tricks, when a camera isn't generating enough revenue, is to make the yellow cycle shorter, making ity impossible to stop safely. Yes it does make the intersection more dangerous than it was before the camera was installed but it also adds to the revenue.

If you get mailed a scamera ticket take it and throw it in the trash where it belongs.
These tickets are unconstitutional and hold no water. The worse they can do is send a process server so just do not answer the door and they will give up. I literally have gotten nearly 50 of these tickets and have not paid a single one of them. Only around 30% of the people actually pay them, so the state preys on the naive who do not know better. You can research what I have just said as it is all fact.

I was a independent contractor delivery driver in Phoenix so I got tons of those photo radar tickets when I was working. Nearly all were for speeding though, not running red lights.

Isn't it Arizona law that tickets have to be presented by a human? That may be why camera tickets are illegal in Arizona. I am not sure that is true in California though.

These tickets are unconstitutional and hold no water. The worse they can do is send a process server so just do not answer the door and they will give up. I literally have gotten nearly 50 of these tickets and have not paid a single one of them. Only around 30% of the people actually pay them, so the state preys on the naive who do not know better. You can research what I have just said as it is all fact.
I was a independent contractor delivery driver in Phoenix so I got tons of those photo radar tickets when I was working. Nearly all were for speeding though, not running red lights.
