Default Apartments in Pasadena, Arcadia, Altadena?

I already live in Los Angeles, and have been for my whole life, but I need to move somewhere closer to work, and that is in the San Gabriel Valley, but more specifically, Pasadena.

Does anyone know some crossing streets in the Pasadena area that I'd be able to find some apartments that may be renting? I don't really want to use those internet websites to search because I know they are always going to be expensive, and I don't trust those craigslist ads either. I'd like to drive around the area to look for an apartment. It could be anywhere in Pasadena, or even Arcadia or Altadena. I just need a 1 Bedroom with a parking lot/area/spot.

I know it's pricey to live in the Pasadena area, but I had passed by an apartment complex in Arcadia that was renting a 1 Bedroom for $900 a month, but I don't remember what the address was, and I'm really regretting that! I just remember that it was on Santa Anita Blvd. So, I know there are apartments out there that aren't too expensive. I'm not really picky about how the apartment looks on the outside (to an extent of course).

My price range for rent is around $900-$1000. So, anyone seen any FOR RENT signs on any streets lately? :0)

Thanks.

Default Holla for cheaper rent

Hey Holla,

It will probably be difficult finding an apart in pasadena for 900-1000/mo. Try Alhambra or Highland Park (off the 110)

Really? Here are 16, most of them in or around Old Pas:
los angeles craigslist > > apts/housing for rent: search for "pasadena"

Highland Park/Mt Washington can be nice too.

Here are breakdowns of the best options near Pasadena:

Pasadena- Mostly good although stay away from the areas north of the 210 and west of Hill.

Altadena- West of Lake- bad. East of Lake- good.

Arcadia- Good choice...

Alhambra- Good choice although stay east of Atlantic...

Highland Park- Very iffy... lots of gangs, drugs, and racial violence.

Monrovia- Most of the areas south of Foothill aren't that great although there are nice pockets (the area off Encino and Duarte Road with all the streets named after Italian cities Genoa, Venice, and Naples is one although there aren't apartments there).

Eagle Rock- Nice area and I think you could find something in the flats...

Glendale- One of the safest cities in the country... there are bad parts south of the 134 but they aren't as bad as the bad areas in the cities I mentioned.

The rest of the close areas like San Marino, South Pasadena, and Sierra Madre are all doubtful since they're very expensive everywhere.

During my apt search I found several small studios in Pasadena in the $900 - $1000 range. I did all my searching using craigslist and places4students.com.

I ended in Glendale b/c you get more for your money.

There seems to be tons of studios near Caltech and PCC....
