I'd add Glendale to the mix as well if you can't find something in Burbank... Plenty of guesthouses and such out that way.

Hi moving to burbank in less than two weeks..coming from chicago..I have been researching for almost six months..burbank for me and my son on a very tight budget and safe area and good school was burbank..all the way!

I've been recommended to Apartments for Rent - PadMapper Apartment Search for Oodle, Apartments.com, Kijiji, and Craigslist Apartments a few times for my apartment search and it's provided a lot of options from a lot of sites. Definitely worth a look.
