Well that's what it sounds like you are getting at. When you make a post and you generalize like that it makes it sound like you believe it is the majority. Take note, I am not saying you actually believe this, I am saying you led me and possibly other members to draw this conclusion from your post. I never once said I hadn't seen multiple people sporting that look. I said I don't believe the ratio of people sporting that look to people not is not out of ordinary for an American city. Basically I am saying there is nothing wrong with the general public in LA no matter how hard people try to create problems or generalize things that aren't true.

Baggy shorts or pants t shirt. That's been my style from here and Chicago. Although I'm not really into baggy anymore. Just slightly loos pants. Skinny jeans look like they are designed for women..

In Texas if I didn't look like a douche good ol' boy or a cowboy, then you weren't taken serious. Here in LA if I am not looking like a rockstar or cool nerd, then the same thing happens.
Thats what I love about other cities. Chicago, it's real. No one has some fashion statement. You just dress like a normal person.

Yeah, everyone here is intent on making a 'fashion statement'. Hilarious. No normal people here. Just superficial morons. Step into MY neighborhood and tell me we aren't real, here in the 90065.

Baggy pants/shorts with tshirt is most definitely a "style type" as much as skinny jeans are. But since that's YOUR style, it's normal right?

So much generalizing in here, this thread is ridiculous.

Wasnt saying all of L.A.

It was funny walking through Los Feliz and seeing the hipsters walk around. It was like the circus was in town. The females though..

What with the denial on this forum? The prius driving, v neck wearing, thick rimmed glasses, fedora wearing, sleeve tattoo inked arm, guy or girl are LA/West Coast staples.

It's not just a generalization. It's as much a reality as the pick up truck driving, wrangler wearing, work boots rocking, cammo hat donning, guy in Texas.

There is nothing wrong with this. That's the local character. I am just saying that it's ridiculous so many people are complaining about generalizations or how they've never run into people like that or that there are a million more people who do not dress like that in LA.

I mean c'mon people!

See I am in total agreement with what you are saying up until you say things like "That's local character" or thats the "LA Staple". It is a staple of 4-5 large neighborhoods in LA and because LA is the second biggest state in the US it ends up being a large number, but its not nearly as big as other styles like polo shirts and khaki shorts with flip flops or tan surfer style or etc...

LA is a place where you can come and dress however you want and act however you want (within reason) because no one gives a **** and that is why the people that like it here stay. There is no one staple or style if you want to mention hipster or tattoo freaks you have to mention about 50 other stylistic types or lifestyles to be fair to what LA really is.

I agree with you though, you can come to LA dressed however you want. All I was saying was that people who tend to be fashionable tend to dress like the guy or girl mentioned in my post.

The people who do not wear the cowboy look are short in number vs the rest of Houston, in fact larger number of people sport the southern prep look, that doesn't mean that the former is not a local color of TX.

The local character doesn't have to outnumber the rest of the population. What one does?
