Default Places to visit in LA

I am moving to LA this weekend and my friend is coming with me to visit. I wanted to show him Malibu, but got not clue what to check out when there. Any suggestions? Also, any suggestions on what else to see within a two day period?

Where in L.A. are you located? That will give us a clue as to how to direct you so you can see as much as possible in such a short time.

The beach seems a natural choice. Maybe Zuma and Point Dume. What does your friend think is there? That might give you some direction on what to do.

3rd st Promenade, Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach on Sunday, Sunset Strip, the Beverly Hills mansion, Rodeo Drive, Manhattan Beach, Duke's in Malibu or Huntington Beach, the Grove, the walk of fame or "shame", the OC - Newport Beach, HB, Downtown Disney, Old Town Pasadena, the lookout point in Hollywood (I forgot the name), Universal Studios, another studio tour, watch the Tonight Show or get tickets to another show. When people visit me from Hawaii, I give this tour. I should be a tour driver = )

If you can make it out to Zuma or Westward Beach in Malibu, it's worth it. Pepperdine's campus is pretty impressive to see. There are several good places for food and drink, but Moonshadows is a cool spot for drinks/lunch/dinner. Sits right on the water.

Also The Getty Villa or Getty Museum are a real treat. Also, don't miss Santa Monica and if you can make it to Hollywood to go clubbing one night that could be fun too. Enjoy!

Thanks for the info guys. I live in North Glendale, so I def plan on seeing Malibu and Old Town Pasadena. I am willing to drive around a bit, but he definetly wants to see the beach.

Is visiting the strip or whatever in Hollywood worth it?

Sunset Strip? It's a drive by, just to say you've seen it type of place. Hollywood Boulevard is the same unless you're really interested in finding a particular celeb's star or sizing up your hands and feet against a movie star.

Take him to the Pirates Cove nude beach just south of Point Dume beach (which is just south of Zuma). It's just below Cliffside:

malibu, ca - Google Maps

Default Cher!

As you drive north on PCH, 27422 Pacific Coast Hwy is Cher's house. It's next to The Colony. It's on the market, asking price is $29 million. It's quite a compound, it's easy to spot with a palm lined drive, heavy gate and large mansion overlooking the ocean. It sat all by itself until fairly recently when another house was built next to it.

Zuma is a nice beach to walk on. I saw more dolphins there in one place than I ever did in Hawaii.
