ga2calif get ready for a BIG change!! I just moved here from Alpharetta, GA. 2 months ago with my 2 friends and we are renting a house in Pacific Palisades (3 br 3 bath) for 6250/month that’s more than most of the mortgages, on a house back in GA...lol. But like you, we wanted to find a nice place and area to live in and be close to the beach. But like most in here have said the try to look closer to the inland part bc Mortgages and rent gets a little cheaper. Plus if your still looking for jobs out here you may want to try Rhythm & Hues I'm sure being in the Visual Effects industry you have heard of them, my roommate works from them. They are located in Culver City with a lot of other Company's in your industry field. Well good luck and when I say it’s a big change I really mean it...from the life of Austell, Lithia Springs area. Where I'm going to assume you live by.

O and if you decide to rent instead of buy try look at westsiderentals.com or 4rentinla.com good places to look instead of rent.com or other normal rental sites.

PalisadesBeachBum-checked out both rental sites you suggested. Thanx,Very Helpful!! already knew about rent.com, but not these two. CLOSE guess of my area, I am actually in Douglasville, 5 min. from Arbor Place Mall (if u are familiar w/ the area). U mentioned that your roommate works for Rhythm & Hues, how long, and how do they like it? because it is on my prospective resume list.
If u don't mind me asking, what is your occupation? just curious as to why u left Ga. was the job market for your field better there, than here in Atl.? Alpharetta seems to be a prosperous area for work???

He loves it for what I hear, he has been working 60+ hours a week on the Movie “The Golden Compass” and he just finished up on Alvin and the Chipmunks. He has been working there for 2 months now as a contract worker. I don’t mind, I’m an Advertising Director for Sports Entertainment and yes the market in my field is better here in a big city. The Executives at my company told me if I ever want to get to the position I want to be in I need to move to a big city like L.A. or NYC. Plus after 27 years of being born and raised in Georgia I needed a change. I mean I didn’t even leave the State when I went to College…lol. The best part of living in Alpharetta was it took me 5 min. to get to work (right off 285 and 400 right next to the King and Queen building and across from Northside Hospital) now it takes me about an hour just to go 18 miles…lol I hope this helps if you have any question just ask away…take care

I wouldn't limit yourself to those two areas. Not everybody likes the Valley; in fact, some people greatly dislike the Valley. Everybody responds differently to different areas, so I would come and visit and look at all the areas, so you can choose the one that's right for you. The beach communities are very expensive, but if you go inland, the prices moderate a bit.
So good luck! I just did the opposite thing and moved back to the South from L.A. All things considered, I'd say it's easier coming than going!

Small World. I moved from Macon, GA to Las Vegas, but a few bumps in the road later..looking to move to CA. I am not unhappy in LV, but circumstances.
I was looking farther noth, like Crescent City North ???
It seemed less expensive (and I thought Vegas was bad!!), and for me right now a small town is perfect.
Any thoughts, especially employment? After being in the Casinos, it will take a bit, although I see there is one in or near Crescent City.
Hi to all the Georgians-get ready for a bit of Culture shock :-)
