If I were to come out to the LA area to relax in July/August, where would be best place to chill out and catch some rays during the day? I think the beach areas are too cool for this right (so I've heard)? Anyone have a favorite spot to just lay out in the sun?

I like the London Hotel's pool in West Hollywood. Nice rooms too. The beaches get warmer towards August so it won't be as cold as it is now.

Huntington Beach Waterfront Hilton fits the bill. Pricey though.

And July/August is fine at the beach(except for the past 2 years where July has been unseasonably cool). August is monsoon season. Generally very warm regardless.
