I forgot the street name but I've definitely driven up the street in the top pic before. That's sort of my current hang out zone in LA these days. "Inner West Side" or something like that.

that seems to be right! im just wondering how the guy managed to focus on the hollywood sign at this distance. using google maps the sign is so small...

Telephoto lens and small aperture would do the trick.

Yeah cross street on the top one is ~ 4th or so.
