Is Villar doing ANYTHING that's going to benefit Los Angeles and increase our quality of life? Or, does he simply care about socially engineering Southern California in order to make a bid for the governorship? |

What did you think Viavavoso was going to do?
He is making LA into his own Mexican kingdom. |

Article in 'The Weekly' several weeks ago pointed out that most of these LA politicians, who want dense multi unit living for the rest of us, live in traditional single family homes in neighborhoods with wide streets. Hypocrites. |

Pretty much. The more slums he can get built, the more illegals can pile into them and the more votes he'll get.

Why do you think he was endorsed by everyone and their brother?
I knew he was in the developer's pocket when he was endorsed by Richard Riordan and a few of the other major developer's and consultants here in Los Angeles. The downtown area is ripe for major, major re-development with tax deductions and bond money from the local govt. I am for redevelopment, but in a way that increases the quality of life for the citizens. Setback requirements allow for vegetation and street trees. Proper transportation and services, park areas & views are not in line with what was passed into law. I really can't say there is an substantial issue he has taken on with a positive and completed outcome. Like Ive mentioned in the past, his pothole repair program is smoke and mirrors to avoid necessary repaving and increasing the quality of the road surfaces to handle the increased and heavier traffic we now have. Look at the apartments in playa vista, not the ones along jefferson, but the ones along lincoln. They look like prison barracks. |

I don't mind the development downtown. It's needed and is key to that area's revitalization. But to expand it to the rest of the city is no good. There seems to be no leadership or direction whatsoever on a real urban plan for LA and its future that deals with everything from zoning, traffic mitigation, public transportation and commercial development/redevelopment. Everything is done in bits and pieces and its just build, build, build from City Hall. LA is suffering its greatest leadership vacuum, perhpas in more than 50 years.
