It depends, but most likely yes it is too far, too time consuming, too much traffic, too stressful. Maybe you can do it in 45 minutes one way from 9PM to 6AM.

I would think it may be a bit too far, but if you like to just see things and have the time, then go for it!

If you are driving I would simply stay on Supulveda (north) until you come to Ventura,make a right and drive to Sherman Oaks which is not that far. Or take Sunset east to Coldwater, take Coldwater (north) to Ventura, and that will just about place you in Sherman Oaks. Not wise to take the freeway during high traffic hours. A simple simple accident can tie up traffic for a while. May take about an hour on a regular, uneventful day/evening

Stay in Santa Monica, IMO. The drive--well it's is all in the timing. Go against traffic. North in the AM and south in the PM. You can never beat the traffic in LA, though.

On Sundays it can be bumper to bumper both ways. GL

we will, thanks! my son has never been to the beach and is so ready to go! he is already talking about how we should move there, and we haven't even left home yet! (kids) lol
