Default Need help choosing a campsite

I'm not much of a camper, but I've decided that my little brother's bachelor party will be a weekend camping trip with the boys. We are not too crazy, but we definitely will be looking to have some fun and do a bit of drinking. having said that, i'm looking for a campground that will cater to a decent sized group of 20-something guys looking for some fun. a lake would be great and decent hiking might also be some fun. most of all though, i'd like to go some place where we don't have to worry about offending any families. and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am not a big time camper either. But I think Big Sur (No. 6 on this list) would be cool. Perhaps Leo Carillo or Catalina if you want to keep it closer to home.

Of course, time of year (weather) will impact where you choose to go.

I have found most campsites have complaining campers, most will even complain if you play the guitar fireside.

I would suggest Joshua Tree or Lake Havasu as I have found these more inclined to the party atmosphere.

Or one of the lesser used Forest Service campgrounds in Los Padres / Angeles / etc NFs. From my experience ones that are in the less "woodsy" areas and more arid areas of these NFs tend to get less usage (and are normally a little further out of town further weeding out the crowds).
