Any suggestions besides taking a cab? arriving rush hour into union station.. will have luggage, but mostly on wheels. Looking to get from Union station to Westwood or UCLA area might work..

Also, any mass transit options from Westwood area to/from Torrance on a fri/sat?

For your trip to Westwood:
From Union Station take the Redline Subway Hollywood line and get off in downtown LA at Pershing Square. Walk 1 block west on 5th st and stand at the Rapid Transit bus stop on 5th between Hill and Broadway. Hop on the #720 Santa Monica bus. It goes down Wilshire Blvd. Get off at Wilshire and Westwood Blvds.

Wouldn't it be faster to take the subway to Wilshire and Western then board the 720? I don't usually use that route so I'm not sure if the 720 goes near that station ...

Hi Chatteress! I thought about that but I thought since he would be lugging luggage around he had a better chance of getting a seat for him and his luggage getting on downtown. But you're right. He could ride it to Western and Wilshire.

The 720 does stop at Wilshire & Western right next to the subway station.

The city of Torrance has two bus lines between downtown LA and Torrance; routes and schedules are available at City of Torrance - Bus Routes & Schedules

What is the quickest way to get to UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica from Alhambra (or South Pasadena/Pasadena)?

Take the #378 express bus from downtown Alhambra (Main & Garfield) to downtown LA, and ask the driver where in downtown LA you'd transfer to the #720 red express bus, all of which stop @ Westwood & Wilshire, leaving you a 4-5 block walk to the UCLA campus.

Find schedules for both lines at LA Metro Home | Getting Started
