Well I don't know how you do that but driving from West Torrance to East or vice versa takes me at least 15 minutes plus traffic. Be it either on PCH, Lomita, Sepulveda, Carson or Torrance. And I've been driving Carson a lot between Figuroa/Avalon and Del Amo/Sepulveda lately. Mainly at bright daylight but I still haven't seen anything like what everybody describes here about that city...

Other than that I've been living in South Torrance for about 2 months now and haven't seen any "suspicious" person so far. And it's not that I'm hiding at home, I'm out on the streets in the evenings walking with my little dog around the 'hood sometimes for an hour or more.

Parts of it are nice quiet suburban family type areas, others are 'hoods with a large concentration of gangbangers and crime.
