How is this very longstanding, internationally known rivalry not understood? (And why is this the second time this need be asked in the same day?)

I guess its how you would define 'rude'. I mean if youre from some small town place where people are always smiling and yelling "hello" and "good afternoon!", and then you arrive in this big sprawling metropolis where people are busy hurrying to the next episode, nothing personal, then maybe if youre used to plenty of congenialities, well, you could take Angelenos as rude, maybe. But any more than New York, Chicago or even San Francisco? That would have to be an exaggeration, imo.

I work at Sea World in San Diego.Lots and lots of visitors from the Los Angeles area.About 95% or so are nice.Matter of fact if I could I would say that the people from LA City/County are some of the nicest people that visit.Nicer than the people from Orange County, much more nicer than the people here in San Diego, that's for sure. The worst guests?NJ/NY and Phoenix(or Arizona).I always remember the people of Arizona/PHX being very rude and or snobby and I see it everyday when they visit here.

Interesting observations. I'm glad LA does well in that respect.

No surprise: People from those two locales are infamous for coming to CA just to declare how much they hate it and how far superior their town is to it.

Thanks, jksouthbay88.

I saw something nice happen yesterday while I was out biking. I was slowly coasting down a sidewalk on a main street (Tampa Ave., near the 118 freeway) and someone suddenly passes by me running pretty fast also on the sidewalk. I didn't know why he was doing that then I realized he was trying to make it to the next bus stop... a bus was not far behind him.

Well, he never would have made it in time. The bus stop was hundreds of feet ahead of him. But the bus driver pulled over to the side of the road when he caught up to the person and allowed him to board. That was real nice of the driver; he didn't have to do that.

I have never found people in So Ca to be rude particularly. In fact, I think they are pretty friendly and polite. Sure, you will see some, especially those from certain parts of the country, but they live everywhere. And sure, some kids needs to have their heads banged together cause they don't know basic manners, but overall I like people in the L.A. area.
