I'm looking for suggestions for great scenic drives. A friend took me down Hwy 23 through the mountains and then out to the beach near Malibu. That was a wonderful drive through the mountains. What other good scenic routes are in this area?

Thanks!

Latigo Canyon Road will give you a good bit of exercise on the steering wheel.

Piuma Road, just to the east side of Malibu Canyon Road, is a lot of fun with decent views too.

For a bit of a longer jaunt, head north east to Little Tujunga Canyon Rd, and turn left onto Forest Route 3N17, then left at Wilson Canyon.

Bottom line, if you like driving on switchback roads with a lot of spectacular mountain scenery and terrain, driving around a lot of LA is like being in Disneyland.

old topanga canyon is probably my favorite road in the santa monica mountains. CA-23 (Decker Canyon) is also a good as you already saw. PCH up past county line is great as well as the 101 between ventura and carpinteria. i also like valley circle up in chatsworth where it goes by an old resevoir that is now a nature reserve. from there you can also reach box canyon which is a neat little area similar to topanga. i've also heard good things about brown's canyon in chatsworth which apparently will take you all the way up to the highest point in the santa susana range.
