Ok, I recently moved to West LA - right off Westwood Blvd. and Ashby Ave. I thought I had my route to work figured out, until school started back up and all of the students are on the roads. July & August I used to take the 10 and I flew until about Western. Now, it’s pretty much stop and go from Robertson. I’ve tried taking Pico and Washington. While there is less traffic, the lights are so poorly timed, that it takes just as long to get downtown. Any suggestions or ideas on how to get to work a little quicker? I work near Staples Center and it’s exactly 9.2 miles from my house. It shouldn’t take 45 min. Any advice would be appreciated!

Motorcycle is best way to do this. I agree with staying on the 10. seems like when all is said and done, its either the same or quicker even when it's jammed up.

correction: 6th Street starts at San Vicente, just a couple blocks east of La Cienega. And I've taken the street a million times.
