Perhaps this bush was not intended to be a trash-can, but a table. And perhaps, the diner was called away on an unexpected emergency involving their stock portfolio.

I used to see a lot of trash in South Central as a kid, but lately I havnt. Yeah yeah yeah I know you might see a bottle here and there, but its getting better, you gotta walk before you run

Someone could have purchased a non-biodegradable beer koozie

but in a fit of environmental consciousness, went the au-natural route turning this knot-hole into a veritable "tree koozie"
