Default How many miles do you drive to work every day?

I am considering a job offer but it is 24 miles away, after being unemployed for a few months I don't think I'm in a position to turn my nose up at a job offer, but it got me curious about other people and their daily commutes.

Can you please tell me how much you drive one way or round trip for your daily commute, I want to see if I feel any better or worse. lol

That's only about a gallon or so of gas each way. Go for it! Currently I work from home. However once I move, I'll be driving about 30 miles each way.

It's more about the traffic than the miles. If your commute were to be on a fwy with no traffic you will be there in 30 minutes, so easy.

Since you asked mine is 18-22 miles depending on which route I take. What kills me is sitting in traffic. I have a good line-up of radio channels I love so keep myself occupied during the trip. Car has AC and heat too. What else can I ask for?

I used to live in Manhattan Beach and worked at TRW in Redondo. I think it was about a mile. Then my office moved to a different building in El Segundo and I was mad because it was now twice as far and not an easy stretch of road to walk anymore. Boy I was really spoiled when I lived in the South Bay.

I drive 27 miles one way to work. La Mirada to Northeast Los Angeles (Glassel Park Area). It takes me about 45-50 minutes on an average traffic day and about 1-1:15 hr on a bad traffic day. Friday night is the worst, I get off at 7pm but on Fridays the traffic is still awful at this time!

Thanks guys, very interesting. I know traffic is part of L.A culture but it's something I've never gotten used to.

Well, right now I live in Orange County and my commute is 4.85 miles and it takes me around 10 min or faster sometimes. I will be moving to L.A and my commute will be 0 miles because I get to work from home!

I also work from home. Sounds like many more companies are allowing this FT. OP, might be best to take the job and just deal with it for now, who knows, while your next offer might be closer it could also be further. Bird in the hand and all...Good luck.

I drive 12 miles to work every day, and I chose to work from 6:30 to 3:00 to avoid much of the traffic that plagues the San Fernando Valley.
