Default living large for real in LA County

Which of these high end places is the nicest and most luxurious to live in if you don't need a job, money is not a problem, and you're single with no kids: Beverly Hills, Holmby hills, bel-air, and Malibu?

they are all on par with eachother. all except malibu share a border and are not so different. malibu is of course on the beach, but also further away from city amenities.

Try living at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills for a few months and go from there. Its not where you live so much, but where you go....

That wouldn't be necessary because I have the cash to pay for a home in full.

Bel Air and Holby are 'City of LA' - take that for what you will. Malibu is its own city, as is Bev Hills. Single with no kids? None of these places. Maybe Malibu.

You miss the point. but I understand.

You can find an average home in the areas you list but it will most likely be on the low end/older and in need of updating in these neighborhoods. Many will be teardowns. I would suggest Orange County as better bang for your buck.
Keep in mind, hi-end residential housing prices are very slowly falling and probably will do so for several years.

Good luck in your home selection.

Come on, Charlie, you aren't working on "Two and a Half Men" anymore, and have lots of money, but surely you will want to work again, right? In the meanwhile, how about a luxury condo in downtown L.A., since there are more and more new clubs there (you can go home witout driving and risking a DUI) and you can mingle with both young professionals and down to earth "regular" people? Or just get down with the urban-rustic folks of, say, Topanga Canyon?
