Drug use and abuse and addiction and all is going up or down in L.A. recently?

What are some of the ones you see the most and are everywhere these days?

Would you say LA is worse, the same or better than southern Florida - i.e. Miami?

Abuse of the hard upper drugs which you mentioned is more or less stable these days in L.A.

However, heroin use is on the rise again....

This all depends on your socio-economic background and who you tend to hang out with. Also a big factor would be your own drug habits, experience or lack of one.

Tiger Beer, any particular reason you're asking this question, it kind of seems like an odd concern? (because drugs are a problem in some form most everywhere)

Anyhow, popping oxies is the latest "craze" imo.

I don't hang around all that many people but it seems like meth and coke are down, crack peaked almost 20 years but has still has a strong but aging user base, marijuana and alcohol are bigger than ever. I guess some evidence points to rising opiate use but it's been ebbing and flowing that way for decades.

I have never used drugs (not even pot) and don't know anyone who uses drugs but then again I don't have many friends and don't party or go out (I go shopping, movies, mainly shopping. No clubs, bars or parties ever). The only druggies I know of are the ones I read about on TMZ when they get arrested; Lindsay, celebs taking prescription meds like Anna Nicole and stuff I read about on Latimes and Ocregister. If you have a bigger social circle and go out a lot your experience might be different.

I would never use drugs; I spend all my resources looking to look YOUNGER and BETTER, flawless skin etc. (Beauty treatments, makeup etc.) Not uglifying myself by doing drugs; meth users are some ugly people (just look at before and afters). Ugly pockmarked skin with red sores, nasty. I would die if I looked like that.
