I would list the problems of LA as
1. Pollution
2. Gangs
3. High taxes (state in general)

We also need a "How long does it take to drive from here to here" thread.

I think pollution and high taxes are in the noise (that is, they are negligible) compared to other problems. In fact, air pollution has improved quite a bit since the 1970s. Cars are cleaner burning and many buses are CNG. When was the last time there was a "Smog Alert"?
The real (most commonly cited) reasons LA is undesirable for many folks are housing prices, grammar and high school education quality, traffic, and social problems.
Gangs and graffiti are a problem in the bottom two thirds of neighborhoods. Not good, but not ubiquitous either.

LA has been turning into a cesspool for years now, And it's getting deeper all the time. How deep does IT have to get before they drown?

I don't know, I think that type of thread is usually pretty valid. Given the traffic situation, people really DON'T know how long it might take to get from here to there. I've driven to Pasadena and it's taken me 25 minutes, and it's taken me 65 minutes. Traffic in L.A. and the surrounding area is kind of an island unto itself. Fraught with mystery, wrong turns, thrills and danger! Kinda like a great mystery novel!
But nowhere NEAR as much fun when it's how you have to get to work every day.
So yep, people definitely should have an idea of what kind of traffic they might be facing when making plans.

Try Downtown Los Angeles. Downtown has the lowest crime rate of any area of Los Angeles.

Not true, although the downtown crime rate has gone down considerably as the average income of its residents has increased. Downtown's going in the right direction, for sure, but to say something like that is a complete exaggeration.
