Good evening all, I am a mixed race(blk/white) male and I am taking a job in El Segundo (coming from Houston) and I looked up apartments in El Segundo and found it to be quite affordable, however when I visited there I hardly saw any minorities live there. I was wondering, how is El Segundo when it comes to being minority friendly? Is it safe for a mixed race male to live there? Please let me know, not trying to start trouble

I think you will be fine. El Segundo is predominantly white, educated people. I wouldn't decide not to live there for that reason...there needs to be acceptance of all races and we shouldn't be segregated.

Like Manahattan Beach, it's a renaissance mix of new yuppies and old hillbillies. Check out the specific street first.

Some are educated, others are hilljack trash who inherited their property from parents or are the original owners and have been living there since the 1940's or 50's.

I know that there are plenty of POC in El Segundo (ok, not plenty, but quite a few). However, I have seen them mostly residing in the apartments along Imperial Hwy. If you feel more comfortable having neighbors with diversity, you should look around that area.

A note on ES and diversity - I have a friend who is not white, but not black either - he has been pulled over by the ES police quite a few times for no good reason. Not drawing any conclusions, just stating the facts.

El Segundo is a nice area. You'll be fine. Are you considering any other areas to live?
