I work in El Segundo and never really notice any smell. I think it's a great little city with a charming downtown commercial district, bucolic residential streets, great schools/police, and a great location. I guess it all depends on what you're looking for. Laguna Niguel is going to be more of a newer cookie cutter subdivision feel whereas El Segundo has an older, more lived in feel.

The neighborhoods in El Segundo actually are quite charming. And the access to the Westside AND the rest of the South Bay is great.

You have to pick Laguna Niguel. Lots of hills, parks, mostly white people driving nice cars, nice houses, jogging trails, beautiful.

Wow, so maybe I should move down to Laguna Niguel to add a little color to the neighborhood.

I've lived here for nearly 20 years and no one that I interact with has this reaction. 20-years ago, yeah. We were the smart ones who knew it would only get better and are sitting on the equity to prove it.

I wonder where LAAFB is on that list. I would think higher than mattel but maybe not. Or, maybe it isn't considered El Segundo since it is an AFB on federal land or something like that.

If occasional auditions become more frequent, you might want to consider El Segundo. I live in LN and make the drive north once or twice a month right now, with periodic stints of once per week, and my intent is to move north once the kids have finished high school, because it can really be a pain to live this far south if you're in the industry. Proximity to studios and casting agents really is a benefit.

Having said that, it really is crazy beautiful down here. But I'm the type that prefers an older home in a neighborhood where the houses aren't all identical. I just wish I could bring the temperatures and fabulous ocean breezes with me when I head north!

you say nobody in the recent times complains about smell, sewage, or noise.i have worked in el segundo for 16 years and still hear the same complaints, even regrets from colleagues in some cases. Let the poster do the research and come to the conclusion. (BTW, i think every homeowner in the country has built significant equity from 20 years ago, so not sure how this factors into the discussion)

I work in El Segundo near ESB and Nash and I smell the sewage maybe once a month. I am pretty far south from LAX and it is daytime so I rarely hear jets or at least they aren't loud enough to be a problem.
