The average daily high and low (for LA basin):

January: 68 (high) - 48 (low)
Feb. 69 (high) - 50 (low)

There are about 6 days of rain in each month so figure you'll have a 20% chance of rain.

Historically speaking, the first three months of the year are the three wettest months of the year in LA; take it from someone who's lived here for almost six decades.

Might be hot; might be cold. Might rain. Usually beautiful.

It's actually my favorite time of year weatherwise. Rain comes occassionally to wash off the sidewalks. The hills turn green. I love it.

Bring a rainjacket or umbrella - and even if it doesn't rain it will be chilly in the evening - it can get below freezing real late at night (3 AM - dawn) - so you wlll want a warm sweatshirt with hood.. Be prepared - you will likely be able to hang out on the beach in sunny 75 degree weather - but that time of the year the rain is a strong possibility. Enjoy your visit.
