Don't do Wilshire!

I find Olympic is a very easy, fast drive, but you'd have to go south to get to it. Not sure if it would be worth it...

Lol. try this insane route:

From Hilgard ave, take comstock to wilshire

Go on wilshire till you see carmelita which is right before smb

Make a left onto carmelita, then another left till you get to elevado

Elevado to its terminus at doheny dr

Left on doheny and divert to cynthia st

cynthia to its terminus on palm ave

left on palm then right on holloway

holloway till at smb, and it turns into croft

croft south till you hit willoughby

willoughby all the way east till you get to vine

south on vine until you hit beverly/3rd/6th, then you're in hancock park

Definitely don't do what "disgruntled la native" said

Take SMB Right on Beverly Blvd all the way

or

Take 6th Street - Great route

or

Olympic - Usually open

Gluck

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I was wondering if anyone has any shortcuts for commuting from HP to Sawtelle? I'd be leaving around 7 p.m. and returning around 5 a.m. The return route matters less, but on the way there, I'd like to avoid Beverly Center and other congested areas. Thanks.

I'd make my way to La Cienega Blvd, head down to the 10, see how that's doing. La Cienega has more lanes than La Brea or Crenshaw. If the fwy is no good, I'd use Olympic.

Yeah, Sawtelle and what? It goes from the VA to Culver City.

Olympic is overall probably your best bet.

To "mr charles" from 2011 by the way, he didn't realize that SMB is usually backed up, and getting to 6th street in the first place is about 4-5 miles east of UCLA! Yes, magically show up on 6th street

Sorry, I'm heading to Sawtelle and Olympic and starting near Melrose La Brea. I wasn't thinking of the freeway but that might be a good option if its open.

La brea , Venice , sawtelle. I don't know what impact the train construction affects Venice, but this is the route I'd take. Phone your order into Roscoe's and have fried chicken for your midnight dinner. The 10 always looks fast until you get on it.
At 5am it will be fast.
