So great that they loiter around in forums about LA (nobody cares about forums on Colorado) to share, uninvited, how we should all move to this pie in the sky place out in the middle of nowhere so we can all lick our wounds together and talk about how we got over....free at last, free at last, thank God almighty free at last.......
Oh come on now! That picture is funny as hell (and no, it was not taken in LA) and I thought it was such a good punchline in response to the OP's query "what to expect?".

Personally, I LOVE LA. One of my favorite songs is "I Love LA" from the 80's. I grew up in SoCal and and can't imagine living anywhere else. Now, does that mean I can't laugh at my beloved city? Heck no!

ADMIT IT, the picture made you laugh just a little

I think it was taken in Ohio? (oh great, now Cleveland residents will yell at me)

Hey, those Clevelanders take their football seriously. At least the Dog Pound has a football-er. Better not open up another can of worms!

To stay true to the current thread, when I come out to LA this wonderful Labor Day Weekend (for work, of course) I'll remember to blast that Randy Newman CD!

Ah hah hah hah! That's my husband's favorite song too. AND he's a Trojan. And...he...hmmmmmm...grew up in SoCal....Hey...is this Dave..........? Uh-oh. (Scurrying off to delete all my old posts) Okay, just kidding.

(And...given the above post by Trojan...I guess I better rescind my "people here can't laugh at themselves" comment! Because it seems I just found one.)

It was hardly my decision to move from there in the late 70's as I was only 10 years old. I had no problem getting bussed to Watts from the already fairly well segregated San Fernando Valley. Blame my parents for deciding to migrate to hickville Colorado.

If I were rich enough, I'd love to have a pad in LA. Problem is, most of my friends have left the area as well. Most of my neighbors were once from SoCal, so I guess I'm in pretty good company.

Sheez! Nobody seems to have a sense of humor these days!
These are quotes from your OP:

And you are NOT allowed to not show love for Los Angeles. (getting out paddle and beating Gowdog with it) Back. BACK. BACK. BACK. You get DOWN in that basement and DON'T YOU COME UP until you admit that L.A. is the singularly best place on earth.

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Work work work ALL the time to beat down the nay-sayers...is one's work never done...

Okay, show's over for me, the baby's up from his nap!

And Angelion, I know you're going to be mad but I am just trying to have a little fun with you and maybe getting you to just chuckle at this stuff.

I was being half facetious and half serious. It's a sarcastic trait I picked up when I lived on the East Coast for six years.

YES, you were on the east coast? YOU? No wonder you're able to be scathing, GO EAST COAST. Rah! Whereabouts? Gotta check on this one later as the baby is getting insistent. But...what an interesting fact you've just revealed!

LOL, sorry, I couldn't resist
LOL....remember I own trailer parks....these look like my tenants. In my years as a land lord I've carried a .45 on my hip and had to pull it several times...running trailer parks is kinda like being in a Dirty Harry movie..you have to call their bluffs or they will ********* to the wind....lol

Thanks for all the advice and to answer some of your questions:

We certainly wouldn't want to live in some boring suburb with crotchety old people so living in the Hollywood area sounds like thats out ticket.

Since I'm in real estate that means Im certainly not afraid of a fixer upper...I rather find a foreclosure in the million dollar range to pick up fix up live in and then come out pretty good on the back side. Thank you to whomever provided the RE website links... I am checking them out now.

Anyone know of a good foreclosure specialist (Realtor)?

Well my first impressions of LA residents is great...you have all been very friendly...sure I know there are a**holes in LA, but there are a**holes everywhere....In my opinion Phoenix is the worst...we all live cooped up inside and in our cars with nothing to do outside but sweat in the summer.
