Someone on an earlier thread mentioned a lot of positive things about Compton (I interviewed for a job not too far away, just east of CSUDH and the area didn't look so bad.)

Watts, it's poorer overall and most of the housing stock is small homes not built up to standards. Other than that there are projects, and a few nice looking housing development that are well kept that are for moderate income. There was some development after the riots. The city moved homes from across town from a neighborhood near LAX they forced people out of I guess for future expansion. Anyway some were move to Watts and sort of fenced off from the rest of the hood. This was back in the 70's and from what I can remember was the last time I passed through they were still nice.

Watts is ranked #8 on the violent crime list, Compton is ranked #24 (though that doesn't include West Compton/West Rancho Dominguez), and Inglewood isn't ranked.
