I'm currently living in San Diego but I'm considering moving to LA for acting, and also because I'm ready for a change of environment. I have a job which may allow me to work from home (if not I'd have to find another job before moving). My budget would be $800-$1100 a month, I'd like to find either a studio or one bedroom for $1000 or less but I could go up to $1100 if necessary.

I'm going to be taking a trip out to the West Hollywood area soon for the weekend and I was hoping for some advice on how I should scout out places. Should I try calling some apartment complexes beforehand, or just go out there and look for for lease signs? I figure it'd be best to call and get an idea of what I can expect to get in my price range. Also does anyone know of any good apartment complexes in the West Hollywood area that have units available in my price range? Any suggestions would definitely be appreciated!
