Do trees with 20 to 24 foot diameter trunks, 350 feet in height, and burls up to 40,000 pound compel ... ?

Consider, Muir Woods by San Fransisco only has redwood to 260 feet, shorter than Oregon's tallest pine tree. So you need to get up between Garberville and Crescent City, California for the really big and tall stuff.

You would really enjoy the coast redwood in the 3rd photo I posted then.

That trunk is 30 feet in diameter, or 3.5 feet wider than General Sherman, the world's largest tree (the Giant Sequoia). The Sherman tapers less though, and has more upper wood volume.

I'm in Oregon, and visited both southern California, and northern California, in 2011. Did similar around 2008. I like visiting both actually, although cool coastal climates with forest is my favorite.

Like I said, I've lived here my whole life. Been there, done that. While I share an equally strong pride for SoCal, change would be welcome.

I still have yet to go snowboarding at Big Bear or Mammoth...
