That happened to me with Adelphia cable (sp?) several ago (when THEY had the monopoly in LA). I ended up hard-copy mailing the receipt to about 20 different addresses. I also faxed it to all their offices. I just bombed them with the receipt until they left me alone. I think it's a scam racket that all cable companies do. Every cable box/modem I've returned since, I've video/photo documented returning and ALWAYS make sure to keep my receipt.

I've never had a billing problem with them. However, when I called about converting to Whole House DVR, the Bozo on the phone said I could just take my existing cable boxes in and exchange them. I even asked him if he was absolutely sure about that, and he said yes. Well, I unplugged my three boxes and carried them in to the office with their remotes only to be told that a technician did indeed have to come to the house. They did waive the $70 installation fee and first month's fee for the new service, but what a pain in the ass to go back home and plug everything in until the technician could come out.
