Thanks, everyone. I love the city I live in now (Pasadena) but have been looking to move due to noisy neighbors, and Arcadia is the first decent/fair price apartment I've found.

I tried the surface streets on Friday rush hour and yep, added 25 minutes to my commute, one way. Not horrible, but I'd much rather get rid of the inconsiderate, trashy upstairs neighbors (I wish!) and stay right where I am...where my commute is great.

I swear, I think the neighbors upstairs are breeding elephants!

Meanwhile...found a place in Arcadia and they did the whole bait and switch on me! Advertised one price and wanted to milk me for more - so shady! I didn't take it so, for now, Arcadia is OUT.

Maybe you can try Sierra Madre. It's Pasadena-ish but a bit more quaint.

Last time I was there, I noticed quite a few apartment complexes on the west side of town.

Thanks, I have been. But most are fairly pricey and they don't have central air, which is a must-have for me.

If Arcadia adds 25 minutes to her commute, what do you think Walnut would add?

Have you thought about Monrovia? In my view it's the most "Pasadena-like" city and it's slightly cheaper. But I think the culture is really similar and the old town area (N of 210) there is pretty cool, and has a fun farmers market on Fridays.

Monrovia's Friday street fair / farmer's market is awesome. I wish every old town along the foothill corridor had something similar.

North Monrovia for sure.
