I live in the Ramona area in Hawthorne and it is a very nice, family-oriented area. You cannot hear the airplane or freeway noise in this area, but it is a bike ride to El Segundo and a short 7 mile drive to Play Vista and Culver City. It's also like 4.5 miles to Manhattan Beach Pier And still beautiful affordable houses in the $500s 3 bed/2bath. I don't know where in LA you can get a safe neighborhood and be close to all these things for that cheap. Ramona Elementary is a great school and so is Hawthorne Math & Science Academy.
