We are possibly moving to LA for a job with the VA Medical Center. Any input on Canoga Park and Faith Baptist Schools? I have read that Canoga Park has a gang problem.

We have 3 kids (elementary up to high school) and are looking for suggestions as to best commute locations and family friendly areas.

Thank you!!

I know a few families who had/have their kids in that school. Its VERY VERY good. Canoga Park had a gang problem a few years ago, but LAPD have really cleaned it up. Well, the seemed to have cleaned out the gang banger types because I rarely if ever see any around there now.

The school seems to have a high number of Asian students with a mix of everything else. But it seems mostly Asian and White. The feedback from the families I know with kids still currently there and kids who have graduated is that it has a VERY VERY GOOD program and the kid's test scores are well above national average for their age/grade level.

Cant tell you anything about tuition, but I do know the school is highly rated and definitely preferred to the public schools in the area.

First thing, Canoga Park to the VA in West LA everyday won't be a fun commute unless you have 6-230 hours or something like that.
Second, if you are considering Canoga Park with private schools, you might also consider getting into Agoura Hills or Oak Park with public schools. Those neighborhoods will cost more but they are very desirable and safe, and the schools are outstanding. It would probably only add five or ten minutes to your commute. I grew up in Canoga Park at Saticoy and Fallbrook and the difference between it and Agoura Hills is night and day.
