I have a job in the CHP office in Monterey Park on Corporate Drive. Thinking about renting at the Emerald Hills Apts on Atlantic so I have a quick commute to work and don't have to get on freeway. I am new to So Cal so need some idea whether this apt complex is in a halfway safe area. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Also welcome are suggestions.

There are many apt on the hilly area,I am not sure if it's one of them.If you are talking about safe as being hilly,I would check it out. But you work for the CHP,maybe you are talking about the building,I will be out there this morning, let you know

I find Monterey Park to be generally acceptable. Lots of Chinese businesses, not much gang activity, people keep to themselves, no violence. Since you're with the CHP, it would be worth it to give the local police station to give you a call.

I drove by that Emerald Hills apt. It's been there for many many years, since I am a realtor,I went in many years ago, can't remember if it was for sale or for lease,it didn't look very good. It probably was just renovated just recently, there is a gated car parking, 3 story building, new stucco. There are flags and ballloons flying everwhere, there is probably a promotion going on.I am surprised that you are renting it without knowing where you are!
There is a catholic church and school next to it St. Thomas Aquinos, nice church, you are 1/2 block from busy shopping.
If you drive down north of Atlantic to Garvey, there are Asian eateries, enjoy!
When are you coming?
