Ok, So I used to live in LA about 4 years ago, I lived in the western part of Koreatown (near the Wiltern), but that was when i had to take poublic transportation.
Now after a few years on the east coast I am looking at moving back.
I'm interviewing for a few jobs, one in Beverly Hills right by rodeo and S.M.
One is in West Hollywood, one in Santa Monica and one in Burbank. If offered one I want to have a good idea of where to look for apartments, as I would be moving out here basically immediately.
I am a mid/late twenties male
I prefer not to have to count on roommates
I WILL have a car this time
I need a stove, so no bachelors/efficiencies
my budget is probably going to be quite low to start at least 700-850 say?
I know Burbank is kind of an outlier on the list, but I was on padmapper looking at:
Hollywood
Noho
Van Nuys
Reseda
Back to Koreatown

I really have no idea of the traffic patterns for the valley, so any advice on that, or other places people think might be better (particularly for the west side jobs)

Thanks in advance

Wow, each of these potential job sites are not exactly close to one another. It sounds like you're more focused on landing the Burbank job.

Seeing as you're still in your twenties, your age demographic will land in nearby NoHo, Studio City, Hollywood. Your budget is pretty tight, so you'll need to look in NoHo, but don't count on the brand new apartments with that budget. If you head closer to Oxnard St along Lankershim, you should find some reasonably priced apartments down the side streets.

Let's be honest, that price will not get you a luxury apartment. It will likely be an older place, but if you can handle it, do it. Otherwise you're going to want to consider sharing a room and there are tons in that area.

Thanks. Yeah I don't need or expect luxury, honestly all I care about is that it isn't in an AWFUL neighborhood, it is moderately easy to get to work and it doesn't have infestation problems.
I actually think the most likely job for me to be offered is the Beverly hills one, hence my worry about how the drive is from Noho and the valley during peak hours. The only advantage on that one is I would work out of the office a few times a week. I'd love to live closer to work there, but I know there is no chance in the W. Hollywood, BH, Westwood area to get anything nearly that cheap.

I agree. Hollywood/NOHO would be a better bet. besides you'll be right by the red line and all the transportation lines if you feel you dont want to drive. also youll be close to the 170/134/101 freeways. i wouldnt do van nuys if i were you just to be safe. and for NOHO, stay SOUTH of victory and you should be ok. once you go north of it it crumbles. Studio city is expensive and i doubt you will find a reasonably priced one bedroom. get a roommate there if you can. check out valley village. south of magnolia and east of coldwater canyon, you can find a few reasonably priced apartments. i live over this way and its all ways quit and generally stays clean. i pay 1050 for a one bedroom but they have a few places thats cheaper.

Thanks. Do you ever drive into BH? could you give me a guess how long it takes you? I'm assuming it must be 45min plus, but if you have a guess I'd appreciate it.
