I only wanted to have some nice photos like yours.

Thanks!!
Regarding the security guard issue, what I do is I try to take the photo from someplace on public property, i.e. the public sidewalk, street corner, etc. All of the photos I posted above were taken from a such places except the last one. That one was taken from the Department of Water and Power' Headquarters; there were so many other people doing the same thing so what I was doing wasn't unusual

plus there were a bunch of skateboaders doing their thing. I figured in that case the security people were more lenient.
I will take a photo from private property if I think I can getter a better vantage of my subject. If a security guard comes out and tells me to leave - I leave. There have been times when I will be on private property for several minutes before I'm told to leave and then sometimes I will be somewhere where no one ever comes out. Another thing is if you're taking photos at places where there is already a lot of other people around or where tourists are expected, then security is going to have a hard time explaining why you have to leave while everyone else can stay.
The most unusual incident occurred when I was standing in the middle of a street in downtown LA at around 2am setting up my tripod and a security guard came out, asked me what I was doing, and then told me I couldn't do that. I ignored her and her supervisor. I proceeded to take my photos

. Another time I was asked if I was photographing
their building and when I told them I was taking a photo of the building
across the street, they were cool with that.
It varies...
