I'm wondering if this is the remains of a street car system(they paved over it, but it can still be seeing going into the warehouse property).

It's very close to where I live. It's on alger just by the train tracks running along san fernando bordering atwater villiage with Glendale. It's by the huge ralph's warehouse.

Here is a pic I took:

Looks like there old freight tracks that led to the warehouse... Streetcar tracks tend to be along major roads and boulevards and are in-bedded in brick or stone...

I doubt it has anything to do with a street car. Its probably just an old spur line in the industrial area they took out of service. That's not uncommon. There's even some down here in OC, far from LA's old street cars.

That's an old Southern Pacific RR spur line. The last remnants of the old PE tracks that I recall were down in the Pico/Union area back in the mid-1980's. Sadly, the last of the original PE tracks have long been removed or paved over, as far as I know.

You can really see the Yellow Car tracks on 6th Street, from Virgil east through parts of Westlake. Of course much of it is covered, but the outline can be seen. Also, if the street is really wide (Highland, Venice Blvd., Santa Monica Blvd., Larchmont, etc.) it usually means at least two streetcar tracks ran down where the median is today.

Also, you could see tracks on Pico, from where they turned off Broadway, up to Flower St (where they were interrupted for the Metro Blue Line construction). This was the old "P" line, one of the last old streetcar lines to run in L. A., discontinued in 1963. They were fairly visible up to the time I departed L. A. in mid-1998, of course if any streetwork has taken place since then, they may no longer be there. There were a few other places where I have seen the remnant of Yellow Car tracks, but I don't recall where (I had seen the 6th St tracks as well).

It's looks like a street track.
Where I live, we had some between the central train station and some old factories (gelatines=glue) near the channel. Now it's almost dissapeared but untill 15 years ago, you could see that track.

For a closer look, see Google Maps.

armand hertzstraat hasselt - Google Maps

If you look north, you see the old chimney with the name (gelatines) on it. Right after the entrance of that old factory, looking north, you can still see the tracks.

You are right. Its an old line that was used years ago when the area was primarily industrial. Back before Levitz even, for those of you who remember.

Looks like that pic was taken right outside of the strip club right?
