Im the opposite. West of the 405, no thank you. It's cleaner, "prettier", more "upscale" sure. I have friends that reside there and am in the area a lot, but the heart of what makes LA great for me is east of the 405.

I imagine you are thinking of renting...

I think my biggest concern would be depending on public transportation. Yes, it can be done and more and more on using it, but So Ca is still not really mass transit friendly.

Will you be consentrating only on your screenwriting or will you want to find employment to carry you through until you make it, if you do?

Good luck, though I would never move back to the area, it does have a lot of positives and you seem to have found most of them.

Oh, of course I would be finding employment. But as it is now I haven't decided if I am moving to Los Angeles, but thinking more highly of the area than I thought I would certainly helps things.

I also realize that I didn't even scratch the surface of all the areas, but I did get to see the areas I wanted to see and was interested in.

I also agree with the points raised here, regarding the city and how you can choose your own area.

I love all of LA for different reasons. I've lived on the Eastside and the Westside... a barrio and a beach... I love the city for all of its triumphs and failures. It's definitely not for everyone, but it's perfect for me.

This San Franciscan has always had fun in L.A.. I know, I know, I'm supposed to be genetically disposed to hate the place, but I can't.

I drove through L.A. the other day on my way back home to San Diego from the Bay Area and I honestly did not want to go back home. L.A. is just so massive and there is so much to see and do, I could spend hours just going around and seeing what there is to do. I would move there if I could no doubt. I love driving on the 5 right by downtown. so awesome! Some people gripe about the traffic but I think that is one negative of several positives.

I just didn't fancy it. Maybe it's wrong to call it a dump, but as someone who doesn't drive, I was going to compare it to similar areas in other cities. I ended up loving other areas, which caught me by surprise.

Oh, I will be. I have to get a couple things in order, but it should be this year. So not long off.

Also interesting that this thread was revived, as it has now been more than a month since I got back from Los Angeles and I begun to think about the city lately.
