I am a native southern California (Los Angeles, Sherman Oaks, Encino) and have some of my favorite breakfast spots, but I want to know what are your favorite "hidden" places for breakfast.

Some of my favs are:

Jinkys (my local fav in Sherman Oaks)
More Than Waffles (Encino)
Jumpin' Java Famous (Studio City)
Marmalade (Sherman Oaks/Calabasas)

Please dont even bother mentioning Blueberry in SM if they are still open. Blueberry was awful.

Thanks.

Lesser known places? How about Benice on Pacific Ave. between Windward and Venice Blvd.

Agree about Blueberry being crap. I don't think they're open anymore.

Any place will do. The wife and I have love nothing better than to have our Saturday and Sunday breakfast/brunch. Its gotten to the point that the folks at the restaraunts I listed all know us (and our dogs) so we'd like to expand to some other really good eateries.

Walnut Cafe
338 E Colfax Ave
Denver, CO 80203-1816
Phone: (303) 832-5108

They have the best banana-nut bread in town! With fresh fruit and a great location...

(Yeah right like I am giving up my secret spots!)

Roscoe's is good!!! There's also a Roscoe's in Hollywood on Gower IIRC... you could Google it.

Where is the best breakfast in Los Angeles?

My house!! Just ask my kids. Not only do you get your choice of French toast, Coco-Roos or a blueberry muffin, but you get your teeth brushed and get kissed good-bye. And it's free.

Top that.......

That's why one won't find much response to CityData threads about local restaurants and bars. Angelenos don't want their local hangs to be "discovered". That's why I'm more into talking about places outside my hood than places inside my hood.

But if the OP wants to know about landmarks that most Angelenos know about, may I suggest Canter's....great for breakfast although I wouldn't consider it to be my fave Jewish deli. (Factor's and Nate & Al's would fall into that category ; Culver City's one Jewish deli sucks, so the closest quality Jewish place to me are Junior's and Factor's in West LA)

My husband is always saying "Oh, we went to such-and-such a place for lunch...it's a little hole in the wall..." He's a southern CA native. He knows like a thousand "you wouldn't know it from the outside" places. It's like a state secret or something. He's so into the "hide it!" mode that when I ask him where the place is, he'll automatically kind of mumble, "Oh, you know...in L.A..." Thanks honey, that narrows it right down! LOL.

Oh yeah!!!!

I also like:

Toast - on Third Street
The Farm of Beverly Hills - Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills

There's also another little place in a strip mall on the corner of Wilshire and Crescent Heights that I really like, but can't remember the name.
