Big drop in homicides in L.A.
The turnaround comes after a high-profile program that enlists the help of gang intervention workers. By Hector Becerra and Richard Winton Los Angeles Times Staff Writers Los Angeles has seen a significant decline in homicides so far this year -- including a 50% drop in killings in some South L.A. neighborhoods, such as Watts -- as police embarked on a new strategy involving asking ex-gang members to help prevent violence. Yet more misleading information from the Vivalaraza and Sockpuppet Braton spin machine. The number of violent crimes in L.A. is down because violent crimes by gang members are classified under a "gang crime" umbrella. Gang crime is on the rise in L.A., as much as 40% in the valley from 2005 to 2006, I believe.

I'm not surprised at all...I've been telling all the L.A Bashers that the Crime in L.A has improved, and things were much worst in the past.

Gang crimes may be down in LA but its waaaaaaaaay up in the Valley. Especially violent crimes such as murder are waaaay up. That report is misleading.

LOL, much of the Valley is part of the city of LA. The stats are for the city of LA, therefore, encompass the valley as well. Your response is more misleading than the report.
