Help! I've been offered a job in Pomona and need to decide where to live. I'm not familiar with LA and am afraid the mapquest commute times are unrealistic. I currently live in San Diego and want to move someplace similar. Does anyone know the rush hour commute times from Pomona to Newport Beach, Laguna Beach or Dana Point? Any suggestions of other areas to look at? Thanks!

It will be a long commute, an hour or more each way. For the area near Pomona, La Verne and Claremont are some nice neighborhoods to consider.

Corona, or Norco are nice. Rancho Cucamonga and Upland are also good options. If you want to live in "LA County" I would live in Diamond Bar or Claremont.

Pomona is in the inland empire. You'll get better answers in the following forum. I'd look at Claremont, Chino Hills and Diamond Bar. All are very nice for the inland empire and a short commute to Pomona. Forget about living along the coast, the commute would be painful.

I live in Chino Hills and work in Irvine/Newport Beach. Takes about 1.5 hours in regular morning/afternoon traffic.. without accidents. I take mostly streets to shave off a few minutes and keep moving. But you're going against traffic, so it may not be as long. But you're better off living in Diamond Bar, Chino Hills, Claremont, etc... areas for shorter commute.
