Default Long Beach Downtown and Belmont Shores Bars / Clubs?

I went down to look at CSU Long Beach but also looked at some other areas in LA so I spent my whole trip driving around and didn't get out of the car much since I just wanted to get a general idea of the areas, I'm planning to go back again to look more at certain areas but I am wondering what the clubs / bars in downtown Long Beach and Belmont Shores are like, are there just a couple of places in Belmont shores are is there a good selection of places to go, it seems like if you go past downtown Long Beach it turns into a bad area, is it usually safe downtown at nights?

Belmont Shore has everything from family places to college bars. The Thursday night crowd (LBSU crowd) go to Acapulco Inn (AI), Shannon's Bay Shore, and Murphy's. There's also a place down the street in Naples (Crows) that draws a college crowd from time to time.

Downtown has a bit of a younger crowd on Thursday from what I hear. On the weekend it seems to be a little older. It's safe along Pine, Ocean, etc. Once you start going inland it gets a little sketchy.

Also, I hear that there is sort of a weekend club at the Seaport Marina Hotel called Sachi - never been myself, but lots of twenty something kids of my friends talk about it as a fun place to go. Worth checking out.

So Belmont Shores is pretty dead on the weekends? Well I'll probably be going back down there again so I can check out the area more before deciding to go to CSULB.

I am not sure about dead, really, I guess it depends on what you are used to. When I drive by the places mentioned by NaplesRes on the weekends, they look crowded and it seems like there are a lot of student age people...I would not say it's over the top, but it seems like the kids are having fun.

Belmont Shores & 2nd Street is never dead. Drive down 2nd Street at any given hour and it's packed.
