Default Why do you like Los Angeles?

This might seem like a hard Q to ask, but again, only serious replies please. And nothing negative either.

It's hard to find a few good reasons why I love Los Angeles, but I have a few. If you want to add any, you're more than welcome.

1) It's the entertainment capital of the world.
2) It goes 24 hours a day.

That's the best I can come up with.

1) The weather is phenomenal
2) Because of said weather I don't ever and haven't ever gotten sick here. (This could go for all of socal, coming from the midwest).
3) Nobody asks me to go hunting or fishing.
4) Awesome architecture, many unique homes and buildings.
5) Very high tech in most places.
6) Very unique overall, no other city quite like it.

1/ Vibrant, dynamic culture
2/ Great weather (depends on exactly where you live though)
3/ Excellent universities (Cal Tech, UCLA, Claremont Colleges, USC, Occidental, etc)
4/ Diversity
5/ Excellent food all over the place, at reasonable prices
6/ Excellent museum scene
7/ Beautiful beaches
8/ The women (don't get me started)
9/ Excellent dating scene for singles, and for those who are not single (LOL)
10/ Excellent bar, nightclub scene
11/ Nice venues for concerts (Greek, Hollywood Bowl, Staples, etc)
12/ Good professional sports scene (really needs a NFL team though)
13/ Housing market is much more affordable than here in the Bay Area
14/ Generally very tolerant and accepting of other cultures and ethnic groups

-Best Weather
-Better than NY (LA offers what NY has but everything is spread out plus no snow)
-Vegas is a 2-hour drive
-Staples Center

It's a dynamic, interesting city. There's great cheap food. There are intricate layers to investigate. It's massive, so you can feel anonymous and sometimes that's a good thing. But you can make a place for yourself in it if you do the leg work.

There's also a lot to criticize, and L.A. generally has a pretty good sense of humor about itself. I admit, though, that what makes me love L.A. more is partly the contrary nature in me. Often, people who speak against it out of some self-described cultural sophistication are usually not very sophisticated, not very cultured, not very learned, not very experienced, and not very interesting. That kind of callow preening is a particular peeve of mine, whether the subject is Los Angeles, art, water, cell phones, whatever.

Dynamic is the word to describe this city for sure. Vibrant and alive.

LA is awesome because:

The geographic location of southern California, no other region in the nation is like it. It's a never ending sprawl of streets, freeways, cities, suburbia etc.

The natural attractions surrounding LA are huge and not many cities are blessed with such a desirable location, of which, you can find beaches, deserts, forests, mountains all within a reasonable distance from each other.

It's ethnically diverse and along with that comes an immense amount of culture. The diversity formulates an excellent food scene, you can find every ethnic food in LA.

LA has many beautiful neighborhoods, perfect for raising families and having an ample amount of living space, not like a lot of cities where people live in cubicles

I 100% agree with everything here except your last one.

While LA may be famous for those beautiful neighborhoods of single family homes (such as you find where its even a little hilly) most of those are unattainable for most people, due to cost of living. Unless you are rich, LA is generally not where people go to raise families with ample amount of living space.

In fact, LA is so awesome, with endless things to do and experience, that people are willing to and do live in an area the size of a cubicle. In this way its much closer to NYC than people would think, except LA apartment living is characterized by a much more suburban aesthetic. Apartments are much more modern, low rise, landscaped (courtyards) in neighborhoods mixed in with small single family homes on tiny lots.
